An Adventourous Year Brings Exciting Changes to the Culligan Office in Lima, NY
Our year started off a little late in 2016, but none the less was quite a momentous year for us. Starting in May we had an important shift in operations with Peter Keppler and his son, Jason Keppler, spearheading the operations here at our Culligan office in Lima, NY. Charles E. Keppler Sr. had initially paved the path of the water treatment business for his family over 60 years ago when he opened his first Culligan office in Akron, NY. With the help of his sons, they were able to rapidly grow their family business by adding on a bottled water facility in Akron and expanding their footprint across Western New York by purchasing the Culligan of Lima office in 1985. Fast forward to present day and the water business is still flowing strong through the Kepplers’ blood as the third generation takes the reigns, leading us into an exciting future.
With the change of operations in Lima came a new name and some new faces. Although you can still call us Culligan, Culligan Water or Culligan Man, we officially reincorporated and changed the business name to Water Treatment by Culligan. And while we already had a strong team assembled in the Lima office, business was booming in 2016 and the need for additional teammates had arisen. These additional team members included Nicole, who handles the general operations of the business alongside her husband Jason, and whom you may see when visiting our office. Joining Nicole in the front office is Tammy who is the first friendly face you see when walking in to our office and the bubbly voice at the other end of the phone when you call with a water question or to schedule an appointment. And finally if you see the Culligan truck rolling through your town, give a wave to Jimmy our new delivery man. Jimmy will be taking over the position from his brother Tom, who has been delivering to our customers’ doorsteps for over 4 years. Tom is now transitioning into our Service department and will be working side by side with our veteran serviceman, Leo.
With such a busy year and the holiday cheer surrounding us we decided to celebrate our first year as Water Treatment by Culligan with a holiday party at the Honeoye Falls Distillery and a delicious dessert spread from The Cake Place in Avon, NY. We were served an array of fresh fare with ingredients all sourced from local farms and vendors. To pair with our fresh dishes, our bartender served up their delicious, award-winning craft cocktails (and between all of us, almost every single drink on the menu was taste tested!).
Before our final course was served co-owner, Scott, took us on a special tour of the Distillery’s tasting room. There, we were able to see where the magic happens (some of the equipment literally looked like it was taken right out of the whimsical Willey Wonka factory!). Scott explained to us the processes that his partner, and head distiller, Teal, utilizes when producing each batch of spirits – from the grains that get brought in, to the fermentation of these grains, to the unique distilling process and then to the final barreling of the spirits. The distillery has even collaborated with Zamir Gotta (Russian sidekick to the infamous Anthony Bourdain!) to produce Zamir Vodka, right in Honeoye Falls, NY! We also learned that because the Distillery sources virtually all of their products and water from local farms and orchards, they are able to incorporate a tasting room and conduct tastings on their premises while licensed under the newly enacted Farm Brewery Law, which provides many benefits and opportunities to the booming brewery industry in New York State.
The evening was enjoyed by all at Water Treatment by Culligan. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. We are very lucky that we get to enjoy this culinary gem just around the corner from our Lima office. And if you are not in the area, have no worries! You can find the spirits of Honeoye Falls Distillery all over New York State and springing up throughout the country.
With the excitement that 2016 has produced, we are only anticipating an even more adventurous 2017 year as we begin to immerse ourselves in the Livingston County community and the surrounding Rochester and Finger Lakes areas. So if you see us out and about, or would like to stop into our Lima office, just say “Hey Culligan Man!” and get to know your local water expert.
